UTM Leadership Summit

Kylie Stone and Willie Vazquez were chosen to attend the 6th Annual FutureStar Leadership Summit at UT Martin on October 27th.  They were accompanied by their School Counselor, Teresa Nowell.  FutureStar Summit is a leadership program designed for West Tennessee’s potential leaders.  Students were welcomed by Dr. Bob Smith, Interim Chancellor of UTM, Mr. Charley Beal, Executive Director of WestStar, and Ms. Cindy West, Dean of the College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences.  Students participated in leadership activities and had an individualized tour of the department they were interested in.  The Luncheon Speaker was Mr. Darron Billings, Chief of Police, Director, Environmental Health & Safety Training, Jackson State Community College and he had an amazing story to tell regarding overcoming obstacles and setting goals.  The last activity they participated in before departure was the Drum Circle in the Fine Arts Building with Dr. Julie Hill, Associate Professor, Dept. of Music at UTM.  Both  students appreciated this learning opportunity.

SchoolBlocks offers a unique and powerful personalized search system. A member of the public, searching for "homework" might see an announcement from the school as the first result. However, if the user is logged in, they would see their teacher’s latest homework assignment as the top result.
